Every day, we’re surrounded by stories about pets and the people who love them. These stories shape how we think and sometimes, without us even realizing it, they shape how we treat one another.
At the Athens County Humane Society, we know that helping animals also means supporting people. But common stereotypes and blame-focused thinking can get in the way. They can create misunderstandings, build mistrust, and make it harder for families to get the help they need to care for their pets.
That’s why we’re sharing resources from SPARC--Supporting People & Animal Relationships for Change.
SPARC offers easy-to-understand tools and training that help animal lovers, staff, volunteers, and community members think differently about the challenges people face. Their work focuses on replacing judgment with understanding and looking at the bigger picture so we can create real solutions that keep pets and families together.

Together, we can build a more compassionate community for everyone.
